These aren't your mother's résumés, and some of them might be just a bit over the top, out of the box and, off the farm, but they're presented here for your inspiration, if not a delight to your eyes. Some of them would also be awfully expensive to print, but there may be an idea in there for you. Check them out!

Oh, and by the way, deviantart.com is kind of an underground flickr, although people post poetry and other stuff there as well. It isn't deviant in the sense that you might be thinking of.

Business Card Basics and Beyond
Smashingmagazine.com is one of my favorite sites on the web for how-to and creative inspiration. Here's a link to their recent post on business cards. http://tinyurl.com/33j26g9
Lots and lots of really creative approaches to business cards in a huge gallery + tutorials in Illustrator and Photoshop + oodles of templates. If you ain't there already, you ain't nowhere.
Let's talk logos: Here's an archive of adverts (we're about the only country that calls them "ads") from around the world http://adsoftheworld.com/ , aptly named. As is its companion site, that shows logos from around the world. http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/. That last one also has some stock logos, but before you think about using one, remember that stock means generic, means average, means ordinary. You don't want an ordinary logo representing you, do you?
Finally: Here's a link to Six Revision's list of 20 web sites where you can learn Adobe Illustrator. http://tinyurl.com/6m2jx4 isn't the internet grand?

Mixing Typefaces
The rule of thumb in mixing typefaces is to not mix more than three in a layout. From typography.com, here's a nice, short article on ways of mixing typefaces to help tell the story.

Welcome
I started this blog for YOU, the students in my Ad Techniques class because frequently I come across things on the internet or in the world, that I think you might find interesting and informative and this is an efficient and convenient way to share. I'll also show blogs that I follow that are blogged by designers, typographers, web designers, advertising professionals and, photographers. And, inspirational. Not to mention links to tutorial web sites, free stuff, fun stuff, design stuff and the like.
Help me if you can by posting in the comments any web sites that you come across that helpful, interesting and/or informative.
More later. I'm still constructing this thing.
